polishing anaodized aluminum side molding for slicks

Post by realisticretiredone »

I acccidentally discovered you can polish out that white haze that forms on anaodize aluminum side molding. I had just bought a 6 inch buffer/polisher from Harbour Freight and wanted to try polishing something. The only polishing compound I had at the time was for stainless steel, so I put some on the buffing pad and grabbed a piece of side molding. Rub the molding across the pad slowly letting it build up a little heat. After a few passes, your molding looks like new. Be careful of those sharp edges on the molding because the buffing pad will catch there and sling it across the room. Make sure the edges are pointing down so this does not happen. james
