Slick 60's

Ok, with the limited amount of time I have to work on this, I finally made some progress on putting my junk back together. I had to take the brakes in for new studs so I couldn't finish bolting everything and I still need to figure out the tie rod clearance, but I decided to mock up the stance and I'm stoked! The pics are in my cramped garage and I couldn't really get a nice side shot, but in person it is much lower than I expected, which is great. In addition, I was planning on lowering the rear with an "axle flip" as some of you like to call it, but I kinda like the rake it has now and I think I'll keep it like it is. The rear is about 3" higher at the front of the rear wheel well than the front wheel well (aft side). The wheels are temporary and will be gone soon enough. The tires will probably go too, at least in the front. All 4 are 235/75R15s and I think maybe a little smaller in front would look better. Any suggestions? 225s, 215s? Anyway, I'm excited. I don't expect everyone to be as happy as I am, nor like the lowered look, but it's my truck and I like it so far.

Looks really nice, thats a good realistic stance for a street driven truck! Nice looking truck overall as well!

Thanks GT, yeah I agree, not too slammed, but noticeably lower. I know that damned painted grill is going to drive me nuts now though!

truckerdaddy66, it's pretty quick for an old truck. More than fast enough for how it handles! LOL! Funny about the yellow truck thing. I have owned 3 yellow Ford trucks. All by coincidence, not planned. It has gotten to the point now that if I go look at a truck with my wife and it turns out it's yellow, she's like "Oh hell, here we go again!"
Fanatic. My truck is actually a '61, but was hit and the P.O. put a '63 grill on it. As you can see from the toon in my avatar, I am going in quite a different direction than stock. I have all the parts now, just need to get the truck running and out of my wife's side of the garage before I think about a grill. Thanks for the offer though!

looks good comet with you on the rake thing. my truck is going to sit a little lower than yours overall but the rake will be ruffly the same.
Idid not like the stance with the rake out of it mocked it up with various amounts of rake and to me that looked the best. to me it is a truck thing not supposed to be level front to rear.

castruck, yeah, I like either or, depending on the rest of the truck. I'm kinda going for an early ground pounder (traditional early street rod) look and the rake makes it IMO. I have 8" steelies for the rear and 5" steelies up front. I am painting them that argent color, adding trim rings and chome lugs and maybe a chrome bullet for the hub.

Looking good Comet! I would set her up just like that if it were me.

I think if your tims matched the grille, it would be fine, either way its a nice looker!

i like yellow unis, im not a lowering fan but yours does not go to the extreme.cant wait to see it with the quad headlight grille.

LOL! Funny you mentioned it. Yes it is new. I just got it Friday. Pissed me off. I believe a floor jack should last a lifetime. This is my 3rd one! All have been 2.5 ton or bigger. The first one was cheap Chinese junk, so ok, my bad. The second one was a nice heavy duty one, but aluminum. The hydro went bad! So I spent a little more money and went back to steel. It weighs a ton, but seems to be a solid unit. Time will tell!
BTW, not having a working jack was one reason I haven't worked on this for awhile. I couldn't find a decent one I liked locally so I ordered it and had freighted to my house.

Comet, it looks great thus far. Keep up the goodwork. The best thing is it is your truck so go with what you like.
