Slicks in the Movies

My wife and I were watching a movie the other day with Robert Redford in it as an aging cowboy who lived on a ranch in Montana somewhere. Morgan Freeman played his partner and Jennifer Lopez was his daughter in law. The name of it was "An Unfinished Life", and in the movie he drove a 66 Mercury Long Syleside truck. It was black and had a 6 with a granny 4 speed. He was working on it and pissed off about some junky foreign made parts on it. Can't imagine what that would be, but the film was made in 2005. Anyone seen this one? It has a lot of footage of the truck in it, and him teaching his grand daughter of 11 to drive in a pasture. TR

It's been brought up before, do a search for Robert Redford.

Last week I watched a few old episodes of Adam-12 and Emergency and there are Slicks all over those shows. One episode of Emergency had a flatbed Slick carrying Flammable barrels burn to the ground after a car accident. They really set the cab on fire and had 55-gallon drums shooting off the back of it.

It was filmed in Kamloops BC. must have been the producers idea of an inside joke (caught by us BTW) to use a Mercury.

Here is a link to a page with a post from the guy who bought the truck. I could of sworn that he posted about it here but I could not find anything with search.

Actually, I saw another one last night. I was just watching Disney's "Yellow Stone Cubs" and the ranger in that film is driving a 62 Uni. There is a great inside shot when he gets his tranquilizer gun from the truck. The movie came out in 63 so when it was filmed, that truck was probably brand new.

Watched Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief last night with my daughter and they drive a slick throughout the middle part of the movie. 65-or 66 4x4. I would love to have it.

Hey Fellas,
Watched a 2012 DVD movie that I checked out from the county library. The name of it was, UNCONDITIONAL, (see here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1758610/ ) and one of the main characters (cute redhead) drove a pretty sweet 1966 tu-tone (turquoise/white), Custom Cab, (but with an aftermarket radio & wheels). I didn't notice if it was an auto or three speed but did notice it had a V8 hood emblem. Seemed kinda odd to me to see a sweet old Slick in a modern-day setting movie.
The movie itself was OK, but I won't watch it a second time.
