HEADLINER templates are in!

thanks to Brian who sent me a pattern of his headliner, I was able to scan and produce full size PDFs that can be printed at 1:1

Unfortunately due to scanner issues a couple things got cut off (i.e. the corner of the large piece) so I apologize, but this shouldn't be too bad of a problem as the other side is a mirror image... essentially you only need half the pattern anyway. I know this is a bit annoying, but I tried scanning numerous times and this was the best I could get out of it.

I also have dimensions on there with dots at the end points and lines along the axis of the measurment. I made these for me in case I wanted to produce a CAD dwg. so they may be confusing since they are broken up and small. They are good checks, however to make sure the print properties weren't set to "shrink to printable area" etc. The images can be printed on 36" wide paper. I just realized that I have to convert to JPG since I don't think PDFs can be attached to posts, and I don't want to "attach" the images anyway because they're so large, so here's the link to the photobucket folder:

I can also send the original PDFs, just PM me with your email address. If anyone is interested in a hard copy of the template, I can send that as well for the cost of printing and shipping, but I'd imagine just taking these files to your local Kinkos would be cheaper.

I'll probably be testing this out this weekend, will keep you posted. If all goes well I'm contemplating producing actual headliners for those interested. I have developed a technique that I think will work by using a hard backing material that can be rolled so shipping can be reduced. I may even be able to offer material/vinyl if I get enough interest.

Still need a 61-63 template/original headliner if someone has one to contribute.

ok, it looks like when i converted to JPG and uploaded to photobucket that the quality/size was reduced, so PM me with your email for the original PDF. If someone knows a way to post PDFs and provide a link that would be better so people aren't waiting on me. I don't currently have a website where I can post these. Yousendit may be another option....

So which years will this pattern cover? Is 61-63 significantly different?

there are actually 4 different headliners
61
62-63
64-66
uni w. big back window

62/63 will work on 61 if you modify the truck by removing the little u bracket in the center of the cross support and use the clips instead of the big screws along the front. you also would then need to fill the screw holes as they would be visible.

I email .pdf files to my local blueprint shop all the time & they plot them on large format paper - so kinko's isn't the only option. Staples may do it too.
Thanks for the efforts - hopefully someone can get you the others to complete the set.

Nice service to those in need. I was able to use my old headliner as a pattern. I used gray pvc sheet and it worked well. I have noticed that lately in around 100 degree weather and MORE inside the cab I guess, with the windows up, that it is slightly distorted from the heat. Not bad as I've seen the cardboard do worse. I can probably get a few more clips and and another middle screw towards the front of the cab and all will be swell. Just a heads up. Still like the price!

thanks guys, but Brian Taylor deserves the credit, he made the template and sent it to me on his own dime, I just scanned it in. I've sent the file to all I've received PMs from, let me know if it got to you guys ok? There was an offer to post it on a website, so maybe that link will show up here.... as I said earlier.... better then waiting on me!

I may take a stab at the headliner tomorrow.... busy day today moving JFCDeuce to TX. packing the house and getting his 46' Ford sedan body on the frame and ready to tow.... needless to say, I'm exhausted! oh and did I mention it was 112 in Vegas today, but a good time all the same. I just may be done with car stuff for the weekend! but at least I can work on the headliner in the air conditioned comfort of the house, so we'll see.

Again, please post your progress/results/tips and thanks to all those who have already... its not one of the most exciting projects.

p.s. thanks, I didn't realize there are actually 3 different versions. as I said, if anyone wants to donate an old headliner or pattern for the other years, I'd be happy to do this again. It would be nice to have the complete set.
