I am pretty sure Ford didn't install Cherry Bombs on Slicks either.
Does look VERY nice though.

No doubt a clean truck, I would suspect the miles are close to correct too, you see no wear on the seats. I do not think it would be out of the question for him to get a five figure price for that truck. People like unmolested vehicles. If I were looking for a clean truck that I would not have to do a lot of work on, I would certainly consider that one. As Tom mentioned there is something weird about the serial number listed, but I am sure there is a logical explanation for that too.

i don't know about indiana, but in missouri if there is any type of discrepancy, like a home built car or one frame and a different body, the state will issue a vin tag with a state assigned number, but i don't see why that truck would have something like that done.

Very Nice! After looking over the details those pics, I believe this one is as close to factory original as possible, with 47K miles.
I bet this one is the real deal, never been restored, just in hiding somewhere, until now. It has just the right patina of original paint with appropriate rust marks, worn (but not cracked?) steering wheel, an aged but complete engine compartment, and weathered rubber. Those pics wouldn't be too different from any taken in '68 or '69. Kinda like it fell out of a time-warp into 2010 l
.
I'd say the reserve probably is five figures too. Wish it was mine.....but it wouldn't be for sale then

nice looking truck. His new post regarding VIN shows a Michigan truck plant build with a 352 4v for engine. I was not aware pickups were built in Michigan back then? Must be a typo in his VIN #
Also the fender bolts indicate a newer build. Did different assy plants use different hardware?
Something still not right with his VIN.
I would take the truck though! A lot of items usually missing or poor shape look great on this truck.
from last 6 looks like a first week of July build. A pretty late truck.

My 65 F100 was built in Michigan Jan / 1966 at that same plant. I knew it was built at that plant , but learned it was Jan 1966 with www.vinwiz.com

DUH! I should have known that my '65 is a D. Quick look in my '65 Shop manual and it shows D is 352 4v.Michelle wrote:The D code for 65 is 352 2V.BackyardResto wrote:nice looking truck. Well, FYI winning bidder pays $10,400....not me....it did mange to make it past the reserve and the high bidder only bid once, jerking it away from the other three folks in the last seconds...

I had a friend who drove there from approx one hour away (spoke to guy on phone who told me there was another not as nice that sold for 13k but he would take way less.
When my friend got there the seller told him no less than 13k. He passed at 13k.
Nice truck as far as paint and interior but underside had a lot of surface rust and rust in back of cab. Too many unknowns with engine trans as age also needs work just not high miles. Nice truck tho
