Hello all. Been reading the forum for some time, and enjoy it. I have been around Slicks my whole life, (37 years old this Saturday), and currently own two complete ones, and one or so parts trucks.
My late grandfather purchased a 66 custom cab, turquoise and white with the 352 2bbl, NP435, and 4.10 dana 60. My dad bought it from him in 1974 when I was one year old, and still drives it. It is very rough, but as a converted dump truck, he has used it more in the last 15 years or so then he ever did.
The engine has never had the heads off of it, or been out of the truck. The main thrust bearing did wear the face of it off after all those years of shifting, but after only new mains and high volume oil pump, she still holds 40 to 75 lbs of oil pressure. I told dad the truck is a freak.
I have a 3/4 ton 66 plain jane with a electric dump hoist, 325hp 390 4bbl, 4 speed, and a 65 (title is 66), F100 "rat rod", weathered look, 360ci with the Eldebrock performer package, headers, pertronix, DJM axles, homemade flip kit, old school slot mags, 3 on the tree, 79 disc conversion, 3.50 9 inch.
Anyway, I live about 30 minutes from truckfarmer here in central IL.
Nice to be on board, I enjoy all your posts, and can relate to many.
