O have an Offy C on mine.

I run a 600cfm that is way to big. 500 cfm max. There are some good threads on this over at Fordsix.com

Clifford Intake.

Dan's right on the size of the carb. I would go 500 cfm or less for that size motor. Put one on a friends 61 F100 with a 223 a few years back. Used a 390 CFM Holley carb. It accualy was better on gas on the highway then with the old 1 bll. It did such more gas in town though, only about 12-13. But i imagin a lot of that had to do with the heavy foot of the driver.

Just completed a conversion

Clifford Performance is about 45 minutes from me. I purchased the water heated intake, ceramic coated headers and hardware from Clifford's. After compiling all the parts, I just finished the install.
Truly a huge gain in power. At the recommendation of Clifford, I used the Barry Grant Street Demon 2 bbl, 350 cfm carb. Barry Grant (from what I understand) branched off from Holley, and designed his own version with lots of improvements and redesigns. I fussed with the electric choke a little too long (my own fault), and adjusted the idle mixtures with a vacuum gauge, and fine tuned the fast idle and choke settings, and I can truly say I am excited about driving my 240 straight six (never thought I 'd say that). I am a stickler for fuel economy, and have not been able to test for an improvement in fuel economy yet. Clifford claims a 45% increase in torque, and I believe that's true. My engine topped out at 3000 rpm before, and you'd NEVER have dreamed to try to push it past that. Now, it revs freely to 3800, and 4000 is possible without sounding like near disatrous failure.
My fuel economy was 4-16 before, and as long as I don't drive it like a kid with his first license, I think I'll maintain that mileage, or better. I make far more power right off idle than before, and I can feel that I am barely touching the gas to keep up with traffic (or lead). There were times on the freeway before that I thought I'd have to downshift from 4th to 3rd just to get up the slightest grade. Not anymore, though. After this conversion was completed, I came across a couple side draft Webers, and thought that might have been a good option. Clifford makes intakes for 4 barrels (too much, I think), twin side drafts, or EFI. EFI?? That would probably really deliver power and economy.

Your 2 bbl carb/manifold seems like the way to go on the six engines. I like the idea of a setup that would complement the torque these engines already have. I'm running a 300 engine and want to try a similar setup in the future.
If you would please post your gas mileage after you have a chance to put some miles on it
