This truck was listed in a Las Vegas craigslist ad a few months ago. Apparently, somebody in Fresno, CA bought it and has it for sale again. Is there something wrong with it? Why does it keep changing hands?

yupp, that's JFCDeuce's old truck. I just sent him an email, I'm sure he'll be suprised to see it. He still pops on here from time to time but no longer has a slick. I'm sure he'll drop you a note. I've seen her up close, drove er, etc. it needs a few things but was a very solid runner when he had it.

Do you know anything about it? Is he still around?

Think he's still around. IIRC he moved to the Dallas, TX area.

Yep, I did build that truck. and sold it too... Sadly I needed cash a while back. (Actually I wrote the whole description that keeps popping up on C-list too.) When I sold it there wasnt anything wrong with it. It needed a little more bodywork and paint on top of the epoxy primer. It had Some rot in the cab mounts (I gave the buyer a really clean set of replacements that Nick and I took off a desert truck. I had never gotten around to swapping them.) And the tailgate wasn't great (Few are.)
I hate to see it keep popping up, but it looks like people are trying to make a few bucks on it . I sold I cheaper than I wanted to (unemployment will do that to you. I only took $4000 for it!). The guy I sold it to listed it for $6200 a week later, slowly he worked down to mid 5000 range (what I initially asked ($5500), it took him a while to sell it (Vegas is a pretty slow market these days) The guy in Fresno probably got it cheap and is again trying to make some money.

The seller has changed a few things in the description, the truck was not Media Blasted. I took the truck to bare metal before I primed it, but I did it by hand with a DA, a few dozen 3M pads, and a flap wheel or 2. (actually the inner fenders were media blasted when I first cleaned up the truck 6 years ago.)

It was a hell of a fun truck, and solid, it'll go like hell aroung town and cruise pretty nice on the highway. I was gonna swap to a larger tire in the rear, or swap gears again to get some better MPG out of it. (at the time it was probably geting 9/10 in the city and 15 highway. I know it could do better.)
I loved that truck, and I got some great use out of it before the redical changes and after. in it's recent form I took it out to El Mirage and up to Bonneville last summer.

That truck has more than one drop of my blood in it...literally...

If you want to know more PM me your number and I will give you a call.

Yeah it's funny, Actually the craigslist ad that's being used is a note I wrote for the guy who bought it from me. I figured I used so many parts from so many places to build that vehicle, maintnance could be a disaster. I really didn't want the next owner cursing my name when he had to buy new rear brake pads or has a leaky PS pump or something. Hopefully it'll keep getting passed on for the life of the truck. (wouldn't it be nice if you had a list like that for every car you'd ever bought.)

Anyway, seeing it again has me geting Slick Fever.. there are a lot of them here in Dallas for pretty good prices...
But I'm trying to be good and keep funneling any spare cash (is there such a thing?) into the '46 Ford project. Its got a nice home, it just needs a lot more work...see link here:

Sweet 46! I have a 61 shorty out back that I really plan on doing as a copy of yours, but i might use the 4.6 if i get a complete donor. I think olive drab and a nice star and bar on the door would look cool, same rims and stance though! Plenty of shorties in Texas for some reason, seems like there is lots availible on CL. Good luck in Dallas!

The nice thing with a slick is you have the room for a 4.6! I was gonna build up a 4.6 DOHC for the '46.... I'd have had to put the firewall in my knees or cut out the inner fenders about 6" on either side up front....also I didn't like the thought of having to remove the front fenders to pull the motor...

Good luck on the '61, I'm sure it'll be fun.
