another frame swap question

I have a really nice 65 mercury, with a botched 90 frame swap that I bought. I also have a 79 F150 4x4 wit ha shot body - I wish to put the two together

I searched but cant find any direct posts on anyone who has swapped a 1979 F150 4x4 chassis under a long bed slick.

Do all of the cab mount points line up, or will the rear cab mounts need redrilling?

Will the box bolt on AND line up, with tabs welded onto the edges of the frame rails so I dont have to redrill the box?

The wheelbase is some 2" longer, but it would appear that one can slide the cab rearward on the mount holes, and the box a little bit to hide most of this?

Is the frame too long at the rear?

Any other known issues

Anyoen out there done this particular swap who would offer pointers?

thanx in advance

i have done one ken the cab is a direct bolt the bed however will set back about 2 inches further away from cab so you will have to pick your poision on that fix however the front is more of the problem as the frame horns are wideron the 78 or 79 as i recall. hope this helps.

check out my build page.... I have my '66 sitting on a '76 F250 highboy chassis.... this is a little different than the F150 but not much... The cab to bed gap is the only problem I have run into.... the wider gap doesn't bother me...The holes in the frame didn't line up for the bed but all the other mounts lined up great.... The bed holes were directly over the frame so all I did was re-drill the frame... hope this helps.... it is a pretty straight forward swap, just time, patience and deciding how you want to do the bed cab gap.... :)

I did one Ken. What they said. I ended up taking 4" out of my frame to fix the length issue. Dent frame is wider in the rear. The newer axles look better under the slick IMHO just cause of the wider stance. Where are u in the Great White North. Plenty of Albertans here
