Am I pedaling up hill?

Post by Alan Mclennan »

I have put up with this gas pedal for ages now, and I get a cramp in my foot when I drive her, the pedal doesn`t seem right to me!, is the blinking thing on upside down?, it`s how the PO had it!

Try turning it over if you can, and see if it works better for you, Alan.

 In anticipation of some deep and intuitive answers!, I took the bloody thing out for a geek at it!.
Jake , I`ll try that!, thanks mate!
And you! Ezer, those bumps are actually drill holes in the timber over lay, the PO glued to the pedal!, what you see is the fossilized remains of the glue and some timber that resisted my attempts to remove it! .
Short of bringing it over there, to show you!, and believe me!, Lyn and I are will!, here`s another happy snap of the said pedal!

I thought while you lot are having your beauty sleep! , I dug out the pedal for Beryl, big help that was! :x , not even remotely the same!. The mount holes look to be similar and I didn`t have the same problem driving her, the top cable connecting point is way off tho!
Does any of my Aussie cobbers have something similar to these?

lol mac. not for sure, but i think it needs flipped around. i am confused because the wider portion should be towards the bottom like it looks in your pics, but also the wider portion should be way lower on the arm that what yours looks.

Alan without a doubt there is only one solution !

My Dads 66 had a aluminum or chrome accelerator pedal the was a BAREFOOT shape..

If anyone on this entire planet was destined to use one of those its you..You MUST find one of them !

By the way I kinda liked it..wonder what become of it....

Ad about 30 years of use to it, and thats the pedal that used to be in Dads truck..I am fairly certain I still have it somewhere?

Alan needs one of those to be sure.

and that was at thr rear wheels LOL Those were one of the "must have accessorys" for a Hot Rod when I was in High School. Along with Thrush muffers and manifold powered wolf whistles.
As my dad used to say, somewhere there was a horse that died a painful death from terminal constipation due to missing a key part of its anatomy.

Looking at the first pic, the gas pedal seems to sit rather high compared to the brake pedal. Normally the brake will sit about in the middle of the gas pedal. It appears like the gas pedal pivot is about in line with the centerline of the brake pedal, which would be normal and logical IF the pedal were swapped top to bottom like stated earlier.

The way it sits now, it looks like the pivot only allows the pedal to swing a small amount before your foot has to press on the linkage as well to move the cable. If it were the other way around, the pedal would be free to travel much further on the pivot before contacting the arm.

Zac, I think you are right!, looks like the PO, put it on up side down, He must of been using Northern hemisphere instructions  , the whole thing needs to be reworked as the way he has put it together!, I`ll have to bugger it to get it apart!

bit, the spring does work!, but with the pedal being upside down it only has limited travel!.

Greg, it is about 26c here today, or as you would say! 86 degrees :D
