Introduction from a new member in NC
I have been meaning to do this since I joined, but our computer crashed not long afterwards and I wanted to include some photos when I posted this. I grew up in a 1965 Rangoon red F-100. My daddy bought it in 1967 and my sister inherited it in 2007 when he died. It was his only transportation until he bought a 1993 Lightning in 2005. I guess you can say that I have Slick blood that runs really deep. My first car was a 1964 Fairlane. I "messed up" and bought a 1969 F-100 Ranger a couple years later. Great truck and my wife, whom I was dating when I bought the Ranger, is still mad that I sold that one. But while I had the Fairlane and the truck, I saw an ad in Hemmings for a 1965 F-100 Ranger for sale. I traded the Fairlane for the Ranger in 1990. Sold the 69 also and got a 1966 Fairlane GT.
My 65 Ranger is supposed to be an original North Carolina truck. It was solid Vintage Burgandy Metallic with dark red interior when I got it. It is a 352 three-speed truck with only bucket seats, no console. Someone installed a T-10 before I got the truck and I really like it, it is still in there. I do have the original three speed also. I had to put a clutch in it soon after I got it home. About a month later, the timing chain broke so a 390 that I rebuilt was installed. It has a set of 406 heads and a hydraulic cam with 406 specs., an aluminum PI intake and a 700 double pump Holley. Way too much motor but it sure is fun with a four speed!
I finally built a shop in 2000 so I could have a place to work. This truck was undercoated a long time ago and it is at least a 1/4" thick all over. And I mean ALL OVER. The brake backing plates, I-beams, springs, everything. Many hours and propane bottles have passed in ten years. I have most of the frame cleaned and POR-15'ed. Everything has been rebuilt and is waiting to be recovered in freshly pointed sheet metal. (Whenever that will happen)
I met Tom and Kathy Placer at the Super Nationals in 1996 along with many other great people that have helped me with my truck. Tom told me about Slick 60's. Thanks! You would think that i would be finished by now but work and house remodeling have taken time from my truck. I am getting my cab blasted and in primer hopefully by the middle of January. I have a few photos here: http://www.shutterfly.com/lightbox/view ... fefaeb216b
I will try to update when I can.
I really have found alot of help and inspiration here. I hope that I can do the same for someone else sometime.
Sorry to have been so long winded, but just wanted to talk to y'all. I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Christmas!

Just curious, is your screen name in reference to you or your truck

It is a good thing I do not work with computers for a living.
I hope this link works.

The username is in reference to both, me & the truck, plus our dog!
I did build my rotisserie this summer. My wife said I could do it if she could pick out the colors. So you know how that went. Actually the grabber green has been quite helpful in avoiding head injuries. I have a set of "plans" if anyone is interested. I do not know how to post them here or I would be more than happy to share. It is a Word document so if someone can tell me how I will try it.
Thanks for all the welcomes. my wife got a kick out of knowing that someone noticed her colors!
