I can guarantee you that this forum is NOT like all the others. You'll see in the coming months/ years, trust me.
It becomes a touchstone for you and a bit of an obsession.

Welcome to the group. I too am from dear old N. Ky. and that truck looks a little familiar as does the red fairlane across the street. I'm in Bellevue and you've probably seen my turquise 66 Galaxie 500 a time or two. You'll find this group of people very helpful in many ways. Good luck with your project.

I see nobody commented on the cruise-o-matic idea...
I put a 390 with a cruise-o in my '63. The cruise-o went bad pretty quickly. And when I inquired about getting it overhauled, I found out that a rebuild on it was going to be more money than to buy a rebuilt C6. As far as I am aware, the C6 is slightly lighter, as it doesn't have an iron main-case, as the cruise-o does, and will likely hold up to a fair share more abuse than the cruise-o. Best of all though, you can actually get it rebuilt for a decent price. I bought my C6 from a shop in Tucson AZ for $450 flat. He even hooked me up with a serviceable torque converter and the arms to hook up the shift linkage.
The only appreciable advantage that I'm aware of in the cruise-o is that it has a tail pump-- so supposedly, it's one of the very few automatics you could actually push-start in a crisis.
Welcome to the addicting lifestyle of a slick-owner... Now that I own, I can never go back... Got my truck when I was 14, built her up from a gob of broken rubble to everything she is now... No regrets. I love her...

Once I scrolled the picture I realized what it was, your on the west side right, Hodge or Lindsey maybe? I have seen that Chebby a time or two. I'm in south Bellevue off Memorial Pkwy. The only extra's I have right now are a tailgate and the original I-beams and spindles I removed when I lowered it.
