I was hoping to move back to Texas someday, and bought a set of unused, unissued 1966 Texas farm truck license plates about 10 years ago.
Doesn't look like it will happen.
Are they worth anything to anyone?

Here is a picture of one of them. The other is still in its plastic sleeve.
This one has a bit of paint missing in the lower left corner, but otherwise, they both look new.

Looks like we have a winner. Congrats Ruth!
YOM plates are cool to have and run. Don't know about Texas, but in Louisiana it's a one-time registration fee for life (transferable) and you have the added benefit of not have to have the annual state inspection.

I have read that texas no longer allows YOM farm truck tags unless its a farm use vehicle. You can use YOM truck tags.

Just as a caveat, as 62galxe stated, the "restricted" tags can no longer be used. Thus dealer tags, farm truck" tags, etc. are now suitable for wall ornaments. If you wish to license for usage other than clubs, meets, shows, etc., you will need two matching acceptable plates. If registering as antique, one will do the trick.

New here, but figured I would add what I found when registering my '66 with YOM plates in Texas. The PO had aquired a set of 1966 Texas Truck plates. They were in the format of two letters followed by four numbers. I took them to the local tax office to see if they would approve them (one was a little rusty). They pulled out their book, and said that I could not use them. They have to be three letters followed by three numbers. Passenger car plates from '66 are in this format. I asked if I could use passenger car plates, and they said that I could (Texas did away with the Truck designation on plates for light trucks a few years ago). I went to ebay and ordered a set of 1966 Texas passenger car plates, and was able to register my truck with them. As a side note all of the 1966 Texas Truck plates I saw on ebay were 2 letters & 4 numbers, all of the passenger car plates were 3 letters and 3 numbers. Also, asking prices for Truck plates were about $120, and car plates, which you can actually use were about $60.
