Hemorrhaging Oil !!

Post by GrannyReb »

I have a '66 with the orig. 300 6cyl. I like it, it runs great, but boy do I have a problem. It is hemorrhaging oil from around the distributer shaft.
The truck starts easy and runs great but oil loss is much more than "a leak".
Ideas and sympathy both accepted at this time.
Thanks,

Pull the dizzy and there should be a O ring that seals the oil from coming out the top.............Kid
65 f-100, Mostly Stock
64 F-100, 4in roof chop and on a car frame
64 F100, Project, not sure what to do with it
61 Long Uni project
79 F-250 Super Cab Long Box
74 Duster, Future Project
Dropped,Chopped,Tubbed, and Stubbed is the way to go

It is easier to ask Forgivness than to ask Permission

O-ring is there but loose and there is a "scar" above it like someone pryed the distributor shaft out at some time(don't know why, it comes out easy). went to NAPA for new O-ring, it was the wrong size so got a close match at the hardware store. Because of the space where the ring sits, can I duplex them for a tighter fit?? I haven't put them in yet but it looks like they will fit stacked.
