Which years of inner fenders are interchangeable? I have a 1966 Mercury M-100 and I need inner fenders for it.
A friend of mine has a 65' (from what he tells me), and it has good parts. It is a twin I-beam truck, but the cab is different than mine. There are large "steps" inside the cab, unlike my 66' which has a very shallow step
Don't want to pull it apart and find out they won't work.
Thanks,
Derek.
One more question... Inner fenders!

1966 Mercury M-100
65 should not have steps inside the cab unless it is a 4x4 cab or from an F350 or above. If it has 4x4 inner fenders they will not work on a 66 unless F250 4x4 or F350 or bigger. I would think M100 is the same as an F100. Im not that versed in Mercury but assume they should be close to american tin.

Here's the deal. There are two kinds of inner fenders.
Round ones and ones with straight lines bent in them.
The ones with the flat surfaces and straight lines are for 65-66 twin I-beam trucks.
The round ones are for 61-64 straight axle trucks and 65-66 4 wheel drives.
Here's what I meant.
This is the passenger side

The box is a stainless steel battery box I made to put in the rusted out hole from battery acid, but you should see the difference.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.

And just because I was thinking about your original question.
I just never considered it before, but unless there is a clearance issue for the suspension pieces I haven't figured out yet, I can't see any reason they wouldn't BE interchangeable if you drill out corresponding holes in the core support. Everything else swaps out so why not the inners.
Sure would screw up a purist to look in on a twin I and see round straight axle inners.....

I believe if it has the 65-66 core support there will be some mounting problems and mods that need to be done there if using the round inner fenders. Or change to the pre 65 core support.Uncle Skip wrote:And just because I was thinking about your original question.
