Front Power Disc Brake conversion done (QUESTIONS)

Post by jhewitt »

Well I say the hassle and time involved to do this conversion was WELL worth it, now I can drive like my wife, wait thill the last minute to brake!

QUESTIONS:
a) I used 1976 spindles along with all the tie end rods etc being 1976, WHAT year alignment specs should be used?
b) The fellow just set the toe in, but said that the camber and caster could be set by others by bending the I beams, your suggestions, your experiences

The specifications for all those years shouldn't change, as the angles are measure in degrees.
As for bending the I-beams, that takes a special shop, and is only rarely done.
I have found it much easier to change the spindles only, keeping the original I-beams. I think that when minor bends are made at the factory, or may have been made to adjust for a previous owner's accident, they may be imperceptible to the eye, but become an obvious problem when installed on another truck.

Stu at g&s auto muffler is a killer tec. He bent my beams after we cut a coil and a half out of my coils. The truck drove sooo much better it was unreal. If your close id get it done by him. I drove all the way from NC for him to bend my beams.
