Slick 60's

Hi Guys,On my 66 F350.This is a straight axle.In the near future im going to put new tierod ends and a new drag link.Where is the best place to get these?And also I want to put new King Pins in it too.How are is it to do?Do I need a special tools?I looked threw LMC and they only go to F250.And also when I do this in going threw the brakes too.Thanks for any help Tony

Have you tried your local parts house?

For the king pins, you'll need a reamer, and probably a BFH. A hot wrench will help, too. They can be a bear to remove.

Or would I be better off to take it to someone to get it done?

Do you NEED kingpins? I mean, is there slop there? If they aren't sloppy, they don't need replaced. They are really stout parts.
Kingpins are either easy, or complete miserable bastards. It all depends on the maintenance the truck has had. Mine came out smoothly. Others have spent weeks pounding on them to no avail.
Kingping replacement requires new bushings and a reamer to size the bushings to fit. Maybe not something you want to tackle. I would seek out a shop that works on heavier trucks vs a general auto shop for this job.

I took my king pins out.Installed the bushings in the spindels, then took the new pins and the spindels to a shop to have them reem them. That way I didn`t have to buy a reemer. You need to make sure the hole in the axle is not wore. If it is, They can put a sleeve in it.

Ok i have tried local auto parts store and no one can get me a drag link.Do anyone have any ideas what to do know??Let me know Tony

I bought mine at Napa. If you'd like Ill try to find my receipt with the part number on it. It may be a few hours before I can get to it. This is assuming the F-100 2wd is the same?

What other truck will the draglink (or what ever you call it)work off from?There is no one has them for the F350.Mine is worn bad and need to get it fixed before it breaks.Let me know

Well my 64 has a solid front axle so I'll bet there the same. I'll get you the part number and you can go check it out and see if there the same.

No Mine is different.My one end is like that but the other end is part of the steering arm that come off the gearbox

I have a '66 F350 that looks just like yours - check the photo gallery.

The PO from Georgia went thru the entire front end and replaced lots of stuff - had all the work done at the local Ford dealership, not sure how long ago. I have all the receipts still but need to look them over. I remember him telling me the drag link was kind of pricey and hard to find.

Yeah, you won't find much in the catalogs for 1-tons. I had to dig to locate a place that would rebuild the brake booster - now I have two and boy howdy am I glad. You also may find the original back brake drums darn near impossible to locate.

I will check through my files and see what I have & let you know.

Ok done same checking.The king Pins are shot around 1/8 or a little more play in them.Still trying to figure out a drag link for it.I call some of my local parts houses and they cant get me nothing for the frontend.But I see Napa has a listing for the King Pins set online.But there is two different sets.I talked to the guys at Napa and they cant help me with the drag link.So im stuck there.I hurt my back a week ago thats why I havnt posted a pic of my drag link.I will try to get a couple pics today or tomorrow.Thanks for the help guys I got a feeling im going to need it.Later Tony

That difference is possibly brass bushings vs. nylon bushings...definitely go for the brass set.
