Question for Uncle Skip/ Mustang Tank

Post by thcrays »

I have a question for Uncle Skip or anyone who has installed the Mustang tank like his article showed. In the article, it showed the breather line running over to the frame rail. Would it make sense to run it over to the frame rail and then forward towards the rear end housing? I was just curious if anyone had any leakage from fuel slosh under acceleration or having the front of the truck jacked up with a full tank.

Any help or experiences would be appreciated. I am in the process of starting the install. By the way, thank you for the article and pictures for us newbies.

The answer is yes. I ran the vent line to the frame rail and I did get sloshing and fuel spillage under acceleration. So I put an extra length of vent hose on and ran it up on the inside of the bed and that seemed to cure the problem. Just going forward won't do it because the liquid is being "pumped" and will shoot out unless it has that extra length to climb.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

I have no vent on mine, just a stock vented cap and have no sloshing problems.

I ran mine up out of the neck and forward along the left frame rail and stopped it just in front of the shock cross member. I put an inline fuel filter on the end of it like I do my racecars and I haven't leaked a drop in 2 years of driving.
