I just pulled the heads off of my engine. The casting #is D80E.Does anyone know c.c. of them?I think they are around 69 cc,but I'm not 100% sure.A place here {Big D} has rebuilt heads for $85 a pop w/core,so I was thinking I would get some E7's.I believe those have 61 cc chambers. That way I'll have about 1/2 point increase in compression and a small increase in breathing.Does anyone know?or am I full of dooky.Ok,Ok,I admit it I am full of ------.,but am I correct or even close?thanks.

I have no idea what the CC of the D8's would be, but the shop you mentioned (Big D?)should be able to tell you??
And as far as production heads go, supposedly the heads used on the 5.0L out of the V8 Explorers are as good as it gets for a production casting, so that might be worth checking to see if Big D has (or can get) you a set??

There you go. You have 69cc heads. Now that you know, you can play with this site for your compression ratio.

I would stay away from the Explorer heads unless you want to run a different exhaust. I believe thy take a different bolt pattern on one hole than all other small block heads.

Actually, the stock Explorer heads are seen by most as the best regular production heads and they bolt on just like any other 302 head

96-97 gt-40 heads

98-01 gt-40p heads, these have a different spark plug location, the plug sticks strait out. This is the only pita about them, you just need headers made for those heads, or mod yours to work. Some regular headers work fine.
