Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
Rods 63 UNI long bed ProStreet
All right here we go the build thread on this UNI. We, Rod and I, have been discussing this build for a few weeks and now have a game plan. We moved it to my shop today and I will start by designing and building fixtures to transfer it to the rotissorie. Then we will start to make sure the underside is in top shape then the front cab mounts get installed and the bed center section comes out. We are going to raise the bed floor about 3 inches with a square tube frame. It will get a custom wood floor. All seams get filled and smoothed. Door corners are rounded and a one piece glass install with electric lifts. Door handles removed and smoothed. Gas filler hole filled and smoothed. This will be a real smooth truck when finished.
Now for the beginning pictures. I don't have pictures of the truck when it was complete I think Rod has them and I will add them when I get them.
And here is the link to photobucket for the rest of the pictures

Not much to report today. I've got the rotiserie mounting figured out and a full size layout done. I'll post a picture of that later as I'm on the other computer and haven't linked them together yet. I'll start fabricating the mounts next week after I get the material. I'm making it out of 1 inch square X 1/8 wall tubing and the attach points will be out of 3/16 plate and 3 inch square tube X 3/16 wall.
Discovered I have an electrical plug on the plasma cutter that won't work with my system so I have to change that. Details, details. Getting ready to do a job can sometimes be a little frustrating even tho its something I have done before every project has its challenges.

fire truck:
63 uni chassis, heidts 4link, no limit wide ride ifs. all coilover. 8.8 3.73 trac loc(disc)rearend..20x10 rear..18x8 front wrapped in toyo proxes
Powered by Ford:
Were planning on using stock cab and core support mounts and adding rear cab mounts. Were removing the bed center floor and depending on where the rear suspention is we will raise the bed floor accordingly. Another member here did a raised bed floor and we are going to follow his lead and construct a square tube structure to support the wood floor and the bed mounts. Also plan on inclosing the inner bed sides with removeable panels.

Made some more progress today. Got it up on the rotissiorie today. Bottom side looks really good, got some cleanup and scraping off of some undercoating and grease. We are going to spend a good day on it tomorrow and more pictures will be posted.
