Pow/Rack&Pinion in1965 F100

Post by jhewitt »

Anybody ever done this??
I have a 65 F100 with the newer disc brake spindles and want to add a Power Rack & Pinion steering.
I seen many conversions for Chevy trucks, and even Mustangs.
Is such feasible with the I beams?
ANY help appreciated, photos/sources of KNOWN kits!

Sorry Rich, I`ll post the main parts!

"Has any one else mounted a rack and pinion to a f100. I put one out of a series 2 au falcon in my 78 f100 and apart from a little loss lock to lock seems to work fine. Ive done about 15000 kms and there seems to be no uneven tyre wear and I haven't noticed any bump steer issues that I heard would be a problem "

Post by jhewitt »

Rich, what year truck is this a photo of?
What year and make ( maybe even p/n of the unit that is installed )
Got any close ups of the other connections? parts?
The other site posted I'll have to join to pull the info, strange I would of thought this conversion would of caught on on our trucks.

I guess if you do away with the motor mount, it won't interfere with headers as much. That is, if you get the little woman to run along under the hood holding the engine up..

Have you worked this out yet alan? Bump steer of the straight axle kind is something I'm interested in loosing! :D Power steering makes it even worse! haha
