noob intro

Post by Phil »

Hello!
I am Phil from Toledo. I just bought a 62 uni off ebay.
Maybe in a couple weeks I'll have pix.
I have all kinds of questions that I will likely be asking after doing some searches.

About myself. I am a graphic designer at the Toledo Zoo and
I am a huge Torino nut. I have a 1970 Fairlane I built after a bad
accident in my previous 70 Torino hardtop.
I also have a project 68 Fairlane vert.

I am a Moderator on torinocobra.com and on ToledoTuners.com.
I also frequent 460ford.com. Ive blown up more cars than
I've built but I love the journey of a build as much as owning a car.

I have had a bad jones for a unibody after seeing a beautiful one in
Detroit at the Gratiot cruise. After driving all my car buds nuts talking
about Uni's I finally bought one. Its in KC and I will have it picked up next week.

I hear this is THE spot so I signed on.

Here is a pick of the truck off the auction.

Image

It has an add on power steering rack and a 429 swapped in.
Guy said it was mostly rust free except tailgate and steps.
Guess we'll see.

I'll use my Fairlane sig till I get my truck
VV :D
Someday I'll get another slick :(

welcome.gif Welcome to the group. The truck looks to be in pretty good shape. I dont have a uni but i would like to get one for my next truck project. At present i have a 66 4x4. I too am a fan of the Fairlaine. I'm fond of the 66-67 model. Had a 66 in high school, 390 GTA. Best car i ever had.

Yep this is the place for info on the 61-66 Ford trucks. Just ask away, someone here can give ya an answer. We like to see pics. of progress on the builds and any idears you have too.

Lonnie

PS no Chevy motors please.
The most rewarding job i ever had was being a dad.

Welcome!

Hope its true about not much rust.

Wish you had PM or posted about KC members being will to go and look at the truck for you. I'd have been willing and I think several others as well.

Post up more pics as you have them. If there's something we in KC can do to assist, let us know. Can't hurt to ask.....

Hey Phil, I'm on 460 as well. I dont post much there (or here actually) as I mostly read and only post if I have a question about something I am doing or plan to do.

you should post up pics of your torino. off topic but still worthy of discussion.

Hi Phil,
:hello: :welcome: Welcome Slick 60s site Phil. Great Bunch of folks here. welcome.gif :thumright:

I can relate to an "I gotta have syndrome", but I doubt you took a "Bath" at all. If you are like me you simply invested in a platform, or a canvas, on which to base the next project. Doesn't that sound better Man?

When it comes to a SWB Integral Bed F-100s, if yours is solid enough you can't see thru it you're off to a great start. Just my opinion because I sold one years ago and haven't got over that stupid move yet. no.gif Of course that's from the perspective here in the 21st Century where I am a lot smarter than I was when I stupidly parted ways with that ride, after building it to be a Truck Resto Rod. shrug.gif cry.gif

Anyway, good to see you here. I just got turned on to "460Ford" by fellow Slick 60s member Lonnie aka "Fordman Crackle" from this site. It has a warm 460 and a built C5 and is a 66 F-100 SWB/CC on a 79 frame with other goodies.

Again Welcome aboard Phil, you will like these guys I believe. . .

Welcome aboard! Remember how you get to KC as you have to go backnext year for SlickStock'08.
When you get it home, we want photos of the power steering and also how the 429 is mounted. I have a 63 Uni in the barn and right next to it is a 429. Coincidence? I think not! Probably the next project.
My first car was a black 69 Torino GT followed by 2 72 Gran Torino Sports. Someday I hope to find another 69 fastback. I would take a 69 Ranchero also.
If you drove a Ford, you wouldn't need a good wrench!

Welcome Aboard !!! Nicee Truck. Trust me there will be plenty of bugs to work out but dont give up. It took me till about May 07 to get mine reliable but its well worth the wait. If you're a Torino Fan then you should know that i just looked at a Ratted out 1964 Ford Truck at a car show last weekend that was a 1964 F100 Stepside sb with a 1973 Torino Front Frame conversion. Sat really nice and low. Kinda a shame cause i like the 1973 Torino and you just dont see them anymore. Especially that year. Good luck with your truck. Let me know if i can help.
