Mobile Version.......Not good

Hello,

I use an iPad to get on the Slick site and it forces my device into the phpBBmobile version of the website. This version is really not user friendly and would prefer the full version.

Most times there is a way to select the full, or original website when using a mobile device. Is there an option for that here.

I think this would help many of the members here.

Thanks,

Do you know how to do a screen capture on your ipad?* Can you post a picture of what you are seeing? (or email it to me - webmaster@slick60s.com ). I will try to get a hold of an ipad to view the site with, but your screen capture will help me see what the problem is.

Regarding mobile devices - how about phone users? Anyone view this site with their phone? What kind? How does it look?

* To create the screen shot, you simply need to follow these steps:

  • Go to the screen you would like to create a screen shot.
  • When at this screen, click on the Home button, and while pressing that button, press and release the On/Off/Sleep/Wake button at the top of the iPad.
  • When you press this button combination, you will see a white flash and hear a sound similar to a camera click.

The screen shots that you take can then be seen within the Photo app.

I see the same on my Android.

When you view the boards or the threads, it puts all the user, time, posts, etc... bellow each one. This ends up making you do a lot of scrolling.

Also, the mobile version does not show the icons for New, Hot, Read, etc... what it shows is a confusing combo of boxes around text, bold, an orange and a white page, etc...

Other than that I think it works well.

Thanks again Jim, you are doing a great job!!

I also agree that there should be a way to switch back to the "normal" site/layout. And maybe there is a way to set it a your default for those that use tablets.

I think the site upgrade is great, just like Mike, I wanted to just bring the issue to light.

No gripping or complaining going on here. :)

I also don't like the Mobile Version. Surely there's a way to default to the "regular" version. I check the Slick 60's site frequently on my i-phone and the mobile version is really a poor layout and difficult to use.

I actually like the mobile version.
I have a fairly small smart phone so it works very well for it.
I imagine i would prefer the full size for an I Pad if I had one.

the mobile version has been disabled. Once I figure out how to allow you to turn it on or off, I will leave it off. It does not appear the the mobile version is quite ready for prime time...

I was searcing for the mobile version of Slick 60's...and bumped this thread to see if it had been updated.

Big mobile user, would visit Slick 60's if it was mobile friendly.

For the record, I'm considered an ol' fart...57 years...so this ol' dog can learn new mobile tricks.

It is has been re-considered...any links or hint to would be greatly appreciated.
