If that's around town, it's not that bad. A lot of idle time. They're not economy cars.
I've never checked my around town economy but I typically fill up once a week and it's usually about 12 gallons and I tend to go at least about 140miles a week. I try to drive economically so the way I typically drive, it may look like I only have a stock 223.

MPG's? What are MPG's? We don't need no stinkin' MPG's. We have 3 carburetors.

well I think the tired 300 makes around 12 in the Ltd Uni.... I know i used to hope for more.. But not knowing the background on the motors previous life ? i guess its what it is.
kid and I got it from his buddy for 50 bucks, and it had been laying in a barn for several years.. No idea on the history other than supposedly it came from UPS ? maybe out of a work truck or something.. I pretty much cleaned it up, changed the oil...and bolted it in ! people with a better ear than mine have said they think they hear some pin slap in one cylinder...

What is your engine timing set at?
What brand of gasoline are you running in it?
What is the gasoline's octane rating?
What % of your driving is over 60 mph?
What % of your driving is under 50 mph?
For your 352-V8-powered, NP435 4-speeded, DANA 4.10 geared, 4,000+ lb (empty) F250 to get an average 10 mpg, I'd say you're doing PRETTY WELL!

My 62 gets 13.5 also, its a bone stock 292 Y block with a granny 4 speed and I don't have a clue what the rear end ratio is. I have a 2.73:1 rear I am considering putting in it don't know if it would make much difference but it's worth a try I guess. I'm like Skip no more than it gets driven mileage isn't an issue. If it were a daily driver it would be some what of an issue.

The only time I've seen better than 12 mpg, OR 55 mph with my Uni, was downhill from Kansas. And that was on a trailer behind a 3/4 ton Chebbie

The good part is I've had to only fill the tank once in well over a year!

The old knock on the Ford Fe was you get 10 mpg loaded or empty. We used to laugh about that when gas was just $1.00 a gallon. 352,360 and 390. This was a known fact they werent built for mpg just work. Lots of low end torgue med HP and bad mpg. I dont remember Mike did you have a 2 barrel carb. You might do better going to a 4 barrel and try to stay out of the back 2 barrels. That might help a little.

I get 15 mpg pretty consistently with my 352. What's killing the mileage in the O.P.'s truck is the 4:10 rear. You're never going to get anything higher with that ratio.

Yep, that was discussed at length in another post.
I'd like better mileage but it isn't a DD. I'd probably drive it more if it got 14-15 though. It's depressing when you think of it as $0.36 a mile.
