How my truck sounds now...

Post by qwertyd10n »

Hey there,

I got my exhaust buttoned up again a few weeks back and haven't had an opportunity to take a video yet to pass along how the new stroked 390 (445 cubic inches) sounds through my Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers. Enjoy...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rBfjPw5kRc

I've currently got FPA Tri-Y headers, followed by 2.5" exhaust pipe back to the mufflers, and then some 2.25" pipe extensions dumping just past the rear axle. I'll most likely run some nice tail pipes out the sides behind the rear wheels once I make a decision on if I'm going to move the gas tank out of the cab.

Cheers,
Dion

That is sweet and mellow. Love the sound of the FE either with or without headers.Especially when they are in 4x4s.

They are CIPA JR. West Coast Stainless Steel mirrors... I believe part number 47500. I think I got them off of Amazon.

Amazon still has the mirrors for $24 , I watched your video and heard you say something about the muffler noise while driving. How loud are the Super 44's when your going down the road ? I like the sound in the video , but I don't wanna be yelling at the person next to me ..lol

The mufflers were just about right (in my mind) with the original 352 - it had a set of headers and was 2.25" all the way back. I think the cause of them being "almost too nasty now" as I mentioned in the video is due to the nature of the new engine - to say the least, it's not a sleepy 352 anymore!

I can still talk with someone in the cab of the truck, but the exhaust noise is noticeable.

I hope that helps better explain the sound a little...

Dion

Thanks ! That helps a lot , my 460 is pretty much stock , so it sounds like a good match. I have good speakers hooked to my computer and your trucks sounds great over them !
