1963 wiper linkage assembly

Post by shaff64 »

I don't understand what I'm missing on my wiper linkage assembly. When I removed the assembly to re-due my cab, the drivers side wiper was working but not the passenger side. When I removed from the truck the linkage on the passenger side was missing and the pivot stud came right out of the center. Now that I'm getting close to the re-install I'm not sure what I need to fix this problem? First question I have.....how many years would fit this? and would anyone out there have a picture of the wiper linkage so I know what I need to get?

Thanks
Jeff

Linkage showed up Monday at my house. It came from Buds Salvage out of OK. It was just as he said....... I'm pretty happy with his follow up call, and the linkage arms are used buy they look new. The chrome attaching nuts were in great condition too.. So, if your looking for parts don't hesitate to use these Guy's in OK. 1-800-375-2837

Shaff64.
Before you put all that back in, see if you can find a two speed motor from a later model truck or van.
When you do, it will interchange with no problems but there are a couple of things that need to be changed on the newer motor.
There's a "how to" in the other forum, but basically here's the deal.
1. Get the wiper switch, delay module and motor out of a later model truck. DO NOT cut any wires. As long as it has a switch with a knob it will fit. You can tell if its the delay type by "turning" the knob. You can feel the clicks for the two speeds, but if you should also feel the knob turn without a click, indicating the delay feature. Don't get a "slide" type switch.
2. Note the position of the arm on the motor of your original wiper motor that attaches to the original linkage. That arm will need to be put on the new motor in the same orientation and yes, it will fit right on. One of our members put the new motor in and forgot to index the arm and had to take it all back out and re-do it.
3. When you install the new motor, make sure it has a good ground.
4.. Cut 1/8-1/4" off the stem of the new switch and your wiper knob will fit exactly the same as the original.
A multi-speed wiper makes a real difference in your driving comfort when you do get caught in the rain.
I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?
