Okay, so in my thread about buying a GT500, someone said to buy a Lightning.

Funny how Karma comes around. I'm still buying a GT500 when my Jeep sells, but I'm also thinking of selling my customized '02 Harley-Davidson Road King. There is a guy that may want to trade his '01 Lightning with 68k miles on it for a Harley. We're set to talk when he gets back in town on the 28th. He wants $13,500 for his truck but that would be a steal for my H-D. If I sold it, I'd want $16k, $15k minimum. But maybe his truck and a new Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH in-dash Radio/GPS? Not sure, we'll see what happens. If I get the Lightning, I would probably wait on the GT500 for a while.

just make sure all the recalls were done to save you the headache of having to go through it yourself. also, see if he has the svt certificate.

Used bikes are a tough sell right now. They are harder to finance than a classic car. Around here a used HD at the dealer is a better deal than private party.

My wifes 07 RK Classic has 10k in accessories and I only paid 11k for the bike 6 months ago.

Yours is super looking. I wouldnt sell it.

While surfing CL Ive noticed that Lightenings around here are lower priced, but since Im not looking for one I dont know anything about condition or value.

Well that would be a no brainer for me. One has windshield wipers, 4 wheels and a heater. The other one I couldn't
use for six months a year.

That seems to be a decent price on a lower milage Gen II. Like Chris said, make sure he's got the SVT docs.

The guy selling it is the original owner and in his early 60's now. He has the original window sticker and all of the docs. He put seat covers on it when it was new so that the seats wouldn't get ruined.

there are 3 flower tributes within 1km of my place, 2 of them are, or were bike riders, one hit a puddle of water at high speed and ran off the road and hit a tree!, the other ran into a car, I`m with Fergo on this subject!

I've always been jealous of the vehicles seemingly available Down Under, but if a Lightning commands that kind of coin, what do the PERFORMANCE vehicles cost?

Yep, riding is much more dangerous than driving and is not for the faint of heart.

Ive been riding since 74, have had too many friends killed on bikes, but have also had friends die from cancer, car wrecks and heart attacks.

Enjoy life, its way to short.
