New guy from Los Angeles...
I bought my truck back in March. Its a '65 long bed (edit: typo before said short bed) with a 289 in it. The wiring is a rats nest. I was out for a cruise today and it fried. Smoke filled the cab, coming from under the dash. I had intended to redo the wiring (most likely an American Auto Wire harness), but now I think I'll just wait. I should be getting a '65 short bed, minus the engine, trans, and rear end soon, so I'll just swap everything over from the long bed.
I don't plan on going all out, I just want something to cruise. This is my first classic vehicle. I've been into hot rods and muscle cars since I was a kid. My dad has had two GT 390 Fastbacks, a '32 Ford P/U, '67 Camaro, and so on. He has a '56 F100 that he did a full rebuild on. That's where my love for "Effies" came from and I really dig the slick stylings of the "Slicks." I plan on powder coating as much of the truck as possible... even the cab and bed. My parents own a powder coating shop, so that'll help.
My wife-to-be is totally cool with the project and excited to help out with the build, which is awesome. The only thing I had to promise was that I wait until after the wedding in July to start it.

Thanks everyone. Sorry for the upside down pic. Not sure how that happened. I won't be getting the short bed this weekend, possibly next weekend. Its all good, though, since I can't work on it until late July/ August.

I was going to ask what kinda of glue you were using to hold that truck so good to the pavement. LOL

Looks like a lot to work with, I hope it comes together well, When you are at your most motivated, do the dirty stuff first ! Always seems to help me using that plan of attack.
