65 fuel tank question
65 fuel tank question
In-cab fuel tank. I am about to add gravels, and attach it to the tractor wheel to se if I can knowck th rust out. inside the tank there is a filler tube that appears fixed tot he tank. Is it possible to remove this tube for inspection, repair, or replacement? AM I really stupid to be asking this question?
Re: 65 fuel tank question
you are not stupid to ask a question. I am not sure if you can pull that tube or not, I am sure someone here can answer that for you

Re: 65 fuel tank question
i have a 75 1 ton with a hoist. it came with a behind the seat tank, because of the hoist issue. i had trouble with the motor stop running, mostly going up a hill, don't you know. i had quite a time figuring out what the hell was wrong with the truck. i came to the conclusion that the tank had a problem , and i removed the tank behind the seat and ordered one from lmc. it would not fit cause the 65-72 issue not matching the 73-79 tank mounting. i took the tank to a radiator shop and he fixed the tank for me. the tube you are talkiing about is a siphon tube that feeds your engine, and mine had a hole in that tube and if the tank was less than full i would get a vacuum leak and the truck would no longer siphon and ran out of gas. the radiator shop fixed mine for around a $100 and didn't ask how he fixed it. i was just glad he could, as a new tank that fit was unavailble. so if that tube is rusty you are looking for an issue with your gas flow. a 65 gas tank is easy to get and i would just try to find another . i think i have 5 or 6 good tanks for a 65-66 model so i is a non- problem for me.

Re: 65 fuel tank question
I am still having problems with this tank. Do you have a good one that you will sell... I have did everything I know to clean this one out, but I am still getting loads of sediment out of the tank into the fuel line filter...it also appears to keep running out of gas.. I am beginning to think I have a similar problem to what you described. I am ready to say "heck with it" and order a new tank.. Or a good used one. I just need to find one..... If you got one you. Will sell ,and it's not full of rust... Call me up.... 205.873.1000

Eastwood sells a wash and coating kit that should solve this problem.

Re: 65 fuel tank question
you should be able to see if the tube is bad by looking thru the hole in the top of the tank after the gauge float is removed
