I've been looking at this idea myself. Haven't started yet. You will need to remove the huge front cross member and that can be a bit intimidating. The wheel fitment is an issue but I think you are on the right track by addressing the back spacing. There is a article over on FTE in the bump side section that you may want to look at. So others have done this successfully.

Yes it will work as was said you will have to remove the original twin I beam crossmember then it will be just like doing it to a 61-64 which has been done several times here. They did the same swap on a 68 bump on Fast and loud recently and I watched the episode again last night. You can most likely watch the episode onthe Discovery channels website look for the episode Frankenstine ford.

Hi,
New member and first post.. Frames are the same as far as i know. I have a 62 SW unibody and am putting a 04' CV front end in mine as well...
I saw the Fast & Loud episode myself.. Wish they had pent a few seconds more on he install...
I am switching my rear bolt pattern to match the car (CV) lugs.. Either find another 9" or drill new holes for studs...
