trying to read the shop manual on a 352 fe. Trying to remove the heads. rocker arm shaft assembly/oil baffles......kind lost. says I need to start with #4 and loosen in sequence two turns at a time so not to damage valve mech. And do I need to purchase the tool....T58P-6085-A or 6085M (cylinder head holding fixtures)???

Definitely follow the procedure, although some don't. It is possible to damage the rocker shaft and/ or the rest of the valve train, by removing any, or most, rocker or cylinder head bolting fully prior to loosening all. These are parts which may have been use for nearly 50 years with the attendant stresses. Going back together, even more so, you will probably have new stronger valve springs, and could certainly damage components.
As to the tool, there's one on eBay currently for $400.00, a real bargain for a tool you MIGHT use once, and one which most mechanics with years of non-dealership experience have never even heard of

The rocker shaft us under valve spring pressure and will bend if you simply unscrew one bolt at a time. Loosen the rocker bolts a couple of turns at a time until the pressure is off. Mark the special bolt that allows oil up to the rockers. Mark where each pushrod goes. Sometimes these are different lengths. Roll the pushrods on a piece of glass to see if they are bent. Have a look over on FTE in the engine section for more help. No special tools needed. Pull the exhaust manifold with the head. You will snap exhaust manifold bolts and it is just easier to get the manifold off when it is on the bench. There is way more so post back.
