The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

Lowering shackes.

Post by JFCDeuce »

A question of physics...
I'm looking to use a set of lowering shackles on the rear end on my '62 Uni. Just a thought as opposed to buying a kit, could just extend the stock shackle with a second one, this would add a pivot point in the center of the schackle and I am unsure if this would negativly affect the ride. (since the frame is 'hung' under the spring I don't see the chance for the shackle to buckle.) any thoughts. Or if this is a bad Idea can anyone suggest a good company for a shackle lowering kit. (I dont want to alter the frame or hangers.)

Thanks, John

Extended shackles= Bad idea

Do you want to lower the truck?

By extending the rear shackle you rotate the pinion down. To correct this you need to shim the Housing.
