I'm a newbi here. If I ask some stupid questions please bear with me. I will try to search before I ask. New to the F100's but not new to the restoration- restomod aspect as I own a 64 Malibu convertible (All original) and a 66 El Camino (restomod). Been lurking for the few months and joined a short while ago. Just picked up my new toy. A 61 F1oo Unibody short bed 6 cyl 4 speed on the floor. Always wanted a Uni. I don't know the direction I'm going to go with it yet. Got it from the grandson of the original owner. It has lived it's whole life in Idaho. This part of Idaho is desert not the mountains like everyone thinks. Southern Idaho Boise area. Other than the tailgate the body seems to be pretty much rust free. I looked at the rust areas that other posts pointed out and it looks great. Paid $2500. Thought I got a good deal. Any comments would be appreciated. Good or bad!

Tailgate nasty. Repairable? Or not worth the time? $400 for new.
Anyone know why thw previous owner would do this? Grand son didn't know. Said Grandfather did it many years ago.
Looks like a decent place to start, some bodywork in your future, but it appears the footwells are good! Many have started with worse. The better the truck you start with, the closer the finish line will be:)

Four little threaded holes in the flat strap. Can see them in the picture. Just kind of strange. I looked for a reason they put it there?????? Possibly was a tool box of some sort. Defiantly not factory. It is angle iron and flat stock.

Dave - cool truck, enjoy the build. If you decide to go with aftermarket side mirrors, I'd buy the rectangular mirrors of your unibody. About to finsih my truck and working hard to have no chrome items on the outside of the truck (everything orange and white except the windhsield wipers and gas cap).

That Truck Is Bitchen. I Really Like The Way The White From The Two-Tone Dash Blends Into The Doors When They Are Closed. Cool Project For Sure...........
The more I look at this truck the more I like it. Those springs are home made. Got a good look at it today. Home made brackets Bolted on with 3/4" bolts and the spring looks like it was cut with a torch. Must have made a lot of noise but it was a farm truck.
Tried to fire it up last night. Had to get a fuel pump and make some gaskets for the carb. Stuck the bore scope in the fuel tank and it looks really good. They drained it before it went into storage in 1999. Timing was way out in the south 40. Got her timed by ear and runs good. Now to the brakes. Found out there weren't any when I rolled it off the trailer. Master empty. You woulda thunk I would have tried the brakes before rollin it off Huh!
Nice project Dave! Sounds like you know what you're doing. Hopefully I'll make it to Boise in a year or two when my Coogs play those blue turf Broncos!
