Radiator spacers

Ever since I got my truck, I couldn't determine if these 1" radiator spacers/stand-off's were original or not. It's missing one as the previous owner just had two big nuts taking up the gap. Don't know if I should find another spacer or pull them off. The bolts are not ford. Does anyone have any insight?

I do not believe the spacers are oem.

I would only use them if necessary, you want as much air passing through the radiator as possible.

Very nice looking, lots of hours invested in there.

You want the fan about 1" - 1.5" away from the rad core. So it looks like the prev owner did the right thing. I would keep them.

Original Truck, DID NOT Have those spacers,, have seen many of that set ups on 73-79 trucks,, It's just a trick to get the radiator closer to engine for better cooling if your having cooling issues many cooling issues are directed to rad problems,, overboring a engine is one, bottom hose collapsing, sorry fan blade, loose belt, bad water pump, bad or no thermostat, if it's a Fe, and heads been shaved you better have shaved intake in not intake gaskets not aligned,, fan shroud will help

I use spacers like those pictured to get a little clearance for the AC evaporator.

+1.....If it cools fine as is I wouldn't worry about it..If you are having troubles at speed I would try to get the rad sealed to the rad cradle better.
