Hey Iam putting this 390fe back together....cam is in. now its time for the main caps. any advice on seal instal and type of ATV to use. I bought the black and the clear. I was told to put some between main cap and block surface to the outside of where the seals are. Im looking for some experience, I dont want to fuck it up.

use the black and put only a very little along the top outer corners where the cap and block meet.

Troy, FE main seals are easy to screw up. I'd go over to the FTE site and the engine forum and read all about these seals. I soak mine in oil and then install and I use black rtv on the ends and main cap corners. Like I said study this a bit before you do it. IMHO!
