Tire sizes for the F250

Hello and good morning to all. Anybody running the Firestone Transforce 235/85/16's up front on the F250's? Thinking about buying a set for ole Limestone. She currently has 245/75/16's that are wore out pretty bad due to frontend problems that has since been fixed. The old tires fit good but are a tad too wide as the right one scrubs against the radias arm using stock rims.

i have 255s on stock inny wheels on my 66 f250 4x4 no rubbing anywhere must be a 2wd issue?

if the tire on the right rubs at extreme turns but the left does not there is some issue other than the tires like the steering stop on the axle may need adjustment.

My Truck Had Econoline Wheels With 245/85/R16's On It When I Got It. The Pitman Arm Rubbed On The Inner Sidewall And The Turning Radius Was Terrible. Now With The Smaller Rims & Tires It Drives & Steers Great. The Steering Stops Are Adjusted Properly As Well...

Thanks 'Iceman', i'll look into it. Should be in my repair manuals i have to cover that. 'Shadows' slick lookin awful purty with the Transforce on all four corners. Think i'll just keep the size that i have and spring for some new ones. I hafta keep in mind that i am not dealing with a later model F250. Trucks like ours are low profile and very stout, like a 'bulldog'.

No clearance problems? I was wonderin bout all that, because they sure as heck looked good on an eighties Dodge 2500.

I have been running 235/85 R16 on mine for nearly three years.
60,000 miles, loaded and unloaded.
No clearance issues.

OH YEAH. Now that looks good with those 85's. According to the specs on this tire, it actually narrower than the 245/75/16's ima runnin now. Pretty much made my dang mind up, and 'Thanks' you guys for the valuable input.

Limestone66 they will be narrower.
The 235 is the width of the tyre in mm, so 235mm vs 245mm. The 85part is the height, but just to be annoying, it isn't in mm its a % of the width. So your 235 will be narrower but taller. 85% of 235 will still be taller than 75% of 245. Hope that helps.

(Please excuse this brief deviation from the original post subject)

BWF, I want to (again) proudly salute you for letting your Slick do some work - just as the workers that riveted & bolted it together back in '65/'66 intended it to do! BRAVO, good Sir!

Update on my original post.............Just sprung for the Transforce HT's 235/85 16's and they look awesome up front. They certainly fill up the wheel wells and steering is much better. I got a better deal thru the local Firestone then what TK quoted me for their BFG's Commercial of the same size. I'll take a pic of it in case somebody wants to run the same.

Another one running 235/85R16. Mine are the Cooper Discover. The only steel wheel I could find that cleared the front drums was a Fire Stone rim, it had welds, other Ford rims had rivits that put a bind on the drum. Couldnt find a complete set so one is my spare and the ones on truck are new trailer rims.

From the pic, looks like the Discoverers fill up your wheelwells quite nicely. They look good on yer 65. Caint unnerstand bout the wheels though. The wheels on Limestone aint original, but they'll do fer now.
