on summit's site, it is the most expensive holley. almost a 100$ more than any of the "double pumpers". some circle track carbs are more, but not by much. i don't know why. it came with the truck. the carb, intake and headers is why i bought it. i wanted to play some.

i did the same thing to my 64 with a 223, and i have a hollye 2 bbl. the headers are spilt so i have 2.5"dual exsaust and 2 chanber flow masters. the motor is alot more powerful and cranck easier and runs alot cooler

Ezer,
I have stock piled the same set up for the 223s. I see you plumbed the water hoses through the heater valve. I know it sounds stupid but do you open the valve when cold and close it up after awhile?
Since I bought them second hand I did not know if I should tee them off the same system, so it heated the water jackets all the time. or not?

I thought that when you put a 4 bbl on a 6 you were supposed to turn the carb sideways.that way one side was closer to the rear 3 cyls. and the other closer to the front 3.don't remember where I saw that but think it was on the fordsix performance website.

the offie dual plane is set up like that. i don't know if i should be doing that with this set up? how would this be any different than just running a 2bbl? it runs fine and guess i see what you are saying, but i don't see where an inch would make a difference. i guess i should do some reading.

i have been thinking about that. i'm not sure, but clifford says to use the water jacket no matter where you live. it has to do with keeping the fuel from pooling in the intake. better atomization, etc. even with the valve closed the hose to the intake is hot, but i doubt it's circulating. i'm still messing with this set up.

I've tried a bunch of different manifold / carb / header combinations. I've always put the carb on 'sideways' as it made it easier to set up the throttle cable. I've settled on the clifford intake, holley 2 barrel and stock split exhaust manifolds from the fuel injected six.
Here's the 390 four barrel sideways on the offy dual plane manifold.

that's how mine was with the offy frank. the 70 f100 has a linkage throttle so i would have to give lokar a few bucks to run it sideways. i'd need a cable, and two brackets. it runs great as is and with the single plane intake, i don't think i am hurting anything. pros, feel free to correct me if i am doing this wrong. i don't want to screw things up with my ignorance.

Like was mentioned above, spend some time poking around fordsix.com. They claim there's a little difference with the carb position on the dp manifolds. Open plenum doesn't matter. Some make the decision based on the hassles faced when mounting it.
Now, spend some time there, and read up on the Ch**y rocker change. It's a cheap upgrade. I changed too many things at once to say how much difference it made, but for about $15 at Napa, it's worth trying. The other thing that's being done, is to run plugs for the fuel injected 300, as they've got a longer reach. Probably not a big difference, but if you're changing plugs anyway, it's probably worth it.

Those hopped up sixes just plain look COOL!
That's a pretty nice Flareside pickup Ezer.

was talking to a member the other day and he is building a turboed 300 and is hoping to get 8oo hp out of it. I am now possessed with the idea of a 5oo hp 300 and am starting the parts buying to build one for my 65

i had one without the water jacket
i ran the heater hoses with some copper pipe so the pipe touched the bottom, without that ice built up on the carb and intake at 45* F outside temp.
you want to run the hot coolant coming out of the engine thru the intake then into the heater core. the heater valve should be between the intake and heater core

You can see i gess in my album on this site how i plummed the water jacket on my intake. You will not beleave thats a 223 now after the intake and 2bbl. Hollye and split headers. It will jerk your butt into the back of the seat.
