what the pinch weld that the windshield seal sits over is supposed to measure?
I know they trimmed it for trucks that had the stainless windshield trim but for the life of me I can't remember the dimensions.
Since I have about 3 complete sets I may as well put one on the truck.
If I have to cut it I probably should do that before paint prep...................

My truck has the stainless trim, unfortunately the cab is at the body shop for paint. I am going to stop in there Monday and I will measure it. I think it is about a 1/2 inch.
Since the windshield is out of mine at this time I got a measurement for you. Mine is a 63 custom cab and the pinch weld itself is 7/16". I checked several places on all 4 sides.
Greg.
Just measured the one in the shop and it varied between 3/8 to 1/2 inch. I doubt there is any difference between non trim and trim versions.

I'm with Mike I can't imagine Henry doing something like that, it would cost them, they frowned on anything that cost them.

I've added the trim to a bunch of slicks through the years. I've done it both ways, and tried to invent a couple more. The only thing I am certain of is that no matter the measurement, it's a royal PIA! I agree with Irl, I just can't believe there is a difference other than the normal stack-up of tolerances, or someone thinking a little relief might make it easier. I've also seen windshields which popped out on impact, so I would hold any "trimming" to a minimum!

Hmm,
I am just sure some years ago someone had to trim the pinchweld to use the the trim and the appropriate seal.
The dogone thing isn't made out of that thick of stuff I know but there is the "hook" in it to consider and since it turns to the outside..........
Since this truck was repainted I have no idea if it ever had one new.
As for cost a manufacturer would have done it just like this, that way all the cabs could be the same and they only had to cut the ones that had trim - which charged extra for so no loss for them.

While looking at the new Macs Catalog for truck parts, saw an e-mail address for technical help. My next thought was these guys should know about the pinch weld issue. Made the question simple & straight forward. I too have a non custom cab truck that I intend to put the windshield trim on. Asked them if the trim groove was different on the two styles of windshield seals for the '61/'66 trucks. Their reply was "either seal will fit any of the entire F series cabs".
