New update. Fired the body shop on July 31st because I felt 14 months to do the work that had gotten done was way to long. This was not a shop that did collision work and resto work was side work. We agreed 6 months at the beginning and I gave the guy way more time than I should have. I have another shop lined up and it should go in for completion late next week or early the week after. Shop owner has looked at what needs to be done to finish and he feels no more than 3 weeks. I agreed. So hopefully I will get this done before the snow starts falling. Oh wait! That already happened last week. Well maybe before the snow sticks around. I did drive my truck in a parade that we have here every Labor Day weekend called Burn the Point. There was over 450 cars in the parade. Many classics and some not so. There is a show the next day but did not enter it. Also met a slickster while waiting for the parade to start. 61 Merc was there and did the parade and show.

Been awhile since I posted anything. Got the hood back yesterday and the back and top of cab is repainted and rear glass installed. Box went in to shop yesterday and am hoping about 3 weeks for box to be painted. There is a light at the end of the tunnel

Here are some pics with the box and gate mounted. It will be parked until spring and then I will put the last few remaining pieces on.

We put a Pertronix ignition in the dist. yesterday and I don't know if it is me or the ignition, I did not drive the truck since it is January in Montana but the throttle response seems a whole lot crisper/snappier. Also at idle the volt meter now reads between 13 and 13.5 and with points it was barely 12 volts. It seems to start better and it definitely idles a whole lot faster. Is this what others that have installed Pertronix felt? Also put on the hood emblems and the tail light bezels. Got a tach Friday and need to install that as well

New update' Had to pull the motor out due to leaking head gaskets. When we pulled it out we discovered the cam plug was leaking also. Seems that the machine shop had driven it in slightly crooked. We installed an ARP stud kit in the block, used Best Gaskets head gasket and valley pan cover and their new rubber valve cover gaskets along with a new Mummert valley pan cover to replace the piece of garbage Rex valley pan. Cleaned it all up gave it a fresh coat of paint, and reinstalled it. So far no leaks at the heads and everything else is dry. Oh, also got a set of T Bird valve covers to replace the Offenhauser covers.

Very Nice, I Noticed 3-Different Sets Of Valve Covers In Various Pictures. Are The Original Ford Ones Going To Be Used On The Y-Block?............

Yep, that pretty much details my experience with Pertronix! Great looking truck!

Beautiful truck.

Same experience with the Pertronix. Faster starts, better throttle response and idle. Win all the way around.
