wiper arm location problem

Hopefully there is an easy fix for this problem. The problem is the wipers in the off position stop with the wiper arms sitting perpendicular to the windshield instead of parallel with the windshield. All new components were installed (new motor, arms, etc.). Standing at the front of the truck and If you are looking at the wiper arm shaft it is stopped at 12:00. When the switch is turned on the shaft spins to the right to 2 o'clock and then spins to the left to 10 o'clock and when the switch is turned off the shaft returns to 12 o'clock position. Hopefully somebody has remedied this problem and give me some advice. Thanks to all in advance.

Sounds like the motor is not going to the park position. But I would have to look at a wiring diagram to say if it the switch makes it park.

I have ONE wiper arm that refuses to not whack the bottom windshield molding. I've replaced part, pulled off and reset the arm multiple times and it continues to THWACK, THWACK the molding at the base of the windshield.

That's alot like mine did. My driver side went too far to left. Found that I had installed the wrong linkage arm. Driver's side was too long. Found a shorter one and installed works perfect.

i have that issue too.
i replaced the splined piece (which was worn and the little arm on back loose), readjusted the blade on the spline and still it hits.
one of these days im going to see if turning the screw on the motor helps but i dont want to take out my instrument panel and im not sure if i can reach it without.
all of the arms are tight so its not a slop issue.

I feel pardoned now. If Iceman can have the problem, and not have a solution, then I won't feel bad about letting the wiper beat itself to death on the windshield molding.

Never fixed it on the blue slick either. Infact I kept adjusting the arms so often that one day the wiper motor arm went beyond its pivot limit and the wipers got stuck the other way!

There are at least two arms used on the 61/66 trucks, and a multitude of combinations related to date of manufacture and wiper motor application. The most common setup on the earlier trucks is two SILVER arms (12.5 inches). About '63, some used a combination of one black (12.25") and one silver. I believe, but can't remember for sure, that some later applications used two black linkage arms. the only catalog I have readily available only cover thru '63, so I have limited info on the '64/66's.
A mis-positioned park switch can also affect operation as well as park position. A certain amount of (painful) adjustment is available at the drive assembly, but if re-positioning the wiper arms doesn't fix things; I would expect the problem to be loose or incorrect parts or improper assembly.
