I was wondering if any one builds an aftermarket column that you can use your factory steering wheel with? I have a 63 unibody that I'm going to do the dakota front end from industrial chassis and also going to change it to an automatic,I would like to use my factory steering wheel,I would like to keep the interior looking sorta original. Thanks,Charles

About halfway down the page in that link, "'57-'64 is not available."

I'd just modify a stock column.

Well, the OP is planning on using a Dakota front end so he could use the 65 and later and hook up to the Dakota R&P. I was assuming (I know, I know) that he would also be wanting a tilt column, but maybe not. You could modify the 61-64 box to accept a "D" joint and use the aftermarket column and get tilt. I had looked at that option.

Thanks for the info on the column, I would consider modifying the original but I'm going to switch it to an automatic. Tilt would be nice but not a necessity,I just want to use my stock steering wheel. If anyone got the scoop on a 65/66 column,I would be in on that, just trying to keep the original look..thanks,Charles

After looking at those prices on those columns, and seeing that the ones that use the factory wheel is only available for floor shift. I'm in the market for an automatic column for a 65/66...

Since your truck won't be stock, anyway, you can probably work with any column up to about 1977. That gives you many more options. There are many slight variations on essentially the same thing.
