Uh, Mike,
Not to rain on your parade, but I'm curious how you will put the Shelby tires and wheels on the Lightning!

hammer and drill?!

no the Shelby original wheels and tires have been kind of donated to the new 56 build Scottie is doing,
he's got the hole truck down and landed some sweet ready to build on frame from a guy
so we took the tires over there and he's going to make adapters for the front,
rears should slide right on

No, still no fitty! But that seems to be an excellent price for a Gen II! Then I saw the rebuilt title!!!! That pretty wells kicks the value in the arse for resale, since many banks and credit unions won't touch a rebuilt or salvage vehicle.

thanks, no way can I do those.
on with the search

Educate me Paul,
what's the difference from a rebuilt and a salvage?

a few extra dents?

Mike, the terms really vary state to state. You are on your own!
ftp://ftp.dot.state.tx.us/pub/txdot-inf ... alnrmv.pdf
Things have tightened up so much that I am hesitant to buy ANY out-of-state vehicle, and I keep my title agent's number on speed dial!
The people at the various courthouses can hardly be expected to keep up with all these details, thus her "name recognition" with her ex-associates proves quite helpful, since she manages to keep abreast of changes and nuances. I can provide her info if you have a need!
BTW; it makes your life much simpler here if you stick to classic vehicles. The "Steve Jobs strategy" doesn't seem to work well in Texas.

likin' the white lightning. tube bumper too. just like mustangs, it's hard to find an unmolested example. these trucks sold for 17 new in the early/mid 90's. no wonder they couldn't move them. i would own another in a heartbeat if i could.

It was a hard choice back then for me between the Lightning and an anemic Bronco ! Dreams of spending time running up and down "14'ers" strongly influenced my choice.
I still have the $22,000 Bronco. I had a Paxton on it for a while, and always considered what the L would have been like with the forced induction.
Negotiated for a pristine L some months ago; might still end up with it; I have an original, (albeit slightly expanded  ), engine on hand just waiting!

Still a heck of a deal for 7k.

I would fly up and drive it home if I had a place to park it.

Its not like you run across one everyday.

I'm making a offer on the white 96 lighting tomorrow,
need to try and get it and here for $7000?

Plus I'll let the Shelby rims and tires go at a discounted price and then put some sweet rims on it
