Slick 60's

So I came upon an unbelievable deal. My buddy's kid has a '69 Chevy pickup that he's grown tired of and it just so happens to have a nice little built 383 stroker with a nice little TH350 tranny. I got a killer deal because he says he already has a buyer for the body and the guy, for whatever reason doesn't want the motor.

Anyway, I know some, if not many, of the folks around here will call it blasphemy. I call it being practical, frugal and getting to drive my nice little slick to and fro more often now that the tired 223/3 on the tree will be gone

I would never do this. With the plentiful number of Ford engines on the planet that will easily bolt in, why you'd want to use a Brand X and have to rig up every mount, electrical connection and linkage just because it's a 'cheap' deal doesn't fly in my head.

The Chevy engine will not be better.

It will destroy the resale value of the truck (I've watched these swaps fail to sell many times).

As accepting a group as we are here, there's maybe half a dozen who may actually want to see it with the hood open.

It will be a bastard child. I think you'll be sorry you did it.

In similar circumstances not sure I would do it. BUT, it is your truck, do what you want and not worry about what others think. You could always store the 223 and trans away and drop back in down the road if you have a change in thinking.

Just a thought. If you got the 383/350 combo so cheap, sell it for a profit and buy a nice Ford engine and put a Ford back in the Ford. I'm not a Chevy hater (well, not real bad anyway) but I prefer to see Ford in Ford, Chevy in Chevy, etc.

A buddies daughter gave me a flathead, I know they are pretty lo-tech, but what ta, it was free. Part two of this deal is a '57 Cameo that has been laying around with no drive train at my uncles. It may be silly but I bet it would get a rise out of the bowtie boys, maybe that was really what trucksters post was about! No I don't need help I could get that valve in block in there on my own.

Not bad i don't mine a Chevy in a Ford to get it going specially if its wore out. Shoot you would be surprised what my Friend Bruce did he took a 1966 IH 1100 Pick up put a Dodge 318 727 Trans an 9 inch Ford rear end in it said he had a truck then! HaHa a Engine's a Engine to me if it runs like a Top use it! an i know a few folks here may raise hell till high Water! People been putting Chevy Small blocks in Model A's since the mid 50's just ignore it an move on its better off then in the Claws of a Scrap loader!

A friend blew the 352 in his '66 F100 and had to get to work in a few days. I had a 400 SBC and trans, we dropped it in and the front mount bolts dropped right in the Ford holes, just like Ford had planned it.......

some of you guys are funny....i toyed with the idea of a Nailhead or Hemi instead but I couldn't afford it. If I happen across either of them at a reasonable cost I'll be doing yet another swap ad I'll sell the Chevy power plant to one of you "purists".

like I requested in the first post, I'll take the 223 off your hands. How much?
