How far have you gone without maintenance/repairs?

Mine is sort of a "weekend driver" with occasional Home Depot/Lowes trips. I don't run it hard but every couple of weeks, it seems some old part goes on the fritz and needs repair or replacement. I've just learned to accept it since I really don't want to do a major modernization on it. I kinda like it being 45 years old and having a few aches and pains...just like me!!

I did my bottom up restore and have 3 years on it. There have been no disableing events that have stopped me thus far. About 3000 miles.

The regulator did apparently overcharge the battery once and puke acid on my freshly restored battery tray and core support. So that certainly counts as a bad event. My lession: Should have replaced the 45 y/o regulator AND, if you have a good battery box and core support, buy a spiral core gel cell battery.

I used to fill the fuel filter with rust every so often as well, but I carried a fuel filter in the glove box and it was a quick swap, though arriving somewhere reeking of gas was a pain. So I replaced the gas tank.

You will get the bugs out of it doc. The first year I had my truck out of "mothball", I had all manner of trouble.

I'm not sure. In the 3 months I've had it I've worked on it daily.
Someday I'll get another slick :(

my '62 is my daily driver. Since I've had it I've put on about 6,000 miles.

I did the brakes within the first few weeks of buying it, and just recently adjusted the valves. I'd count that as maintenence along with the oil though.

Other than those, I really can't remember anything breaking on it that I've had to fix in the last 10 months/6,000 miles.

Got to realize about the age of these mechanical wonders and the maintenance or lack of maintenance that they have received in the past.Mine is a DD, but I don't go that much anymore after I retired, also, my wife is disabled so I stay pretty close to home so I can take care of her.

Don't know where this came from, but I like it And I Quote " The utter simplicity of it far outweighs the disadvantages of it's Spartan Nature"

At least we can take care of these.

1600 miles so far the only problem has been the wiper switch

But I took the easy route with mine.

Completely dissembled and went thru it adding the disc & headlight mod. Already had power steering
Used a later model 300 six, 4 speed and 3.00 diff

Went the cosmetic sleeper route with mine.

I'm about halfway disabled and do not use cell phones so bear this in mind when I say

I have a truck that I would trust to drive anywhere.

Looking forward to putting it to the test with a fishing trip out west some day
Have a thing for steelhead fishing.

I haven't had one single problem since 1993!

But I haven't driven it even once since then, either.
I hope to rectify that issue one day soon. :?

Besides a pinhole in a new heater hose at midnight ,almost an hour away from home with no tools ( my stupidity), I have put 3,400 miles . What a smooth running truck! You can`t beat the feeling you get when your driving your slick!

I have driven my 66 for the last two years with minor problems. thing like a tank full of bad gas, and burned a set of points out. I have gone about 9k with it in the past two years.
