today was a GOOD day.....the front clip is sitting on the truck and finally got to figure out which doors to use. did you know that 64 hinges wont fit into the 62 openings? me either :dontknow: , anyway I got the fender patched up and it's almost ready to go back on, at least she looks like a truck again. also we got the dash put back together and I used the tip about the hole covers( for the knobs) from the hardware store, they don't look too bad, they are a brushed look, and the tank in too. now just waiting on some parts. here's another piece of weird info...did you know that a 62 uses almost all fine thread bolts while a 64 uses coarse thread? me either, but I found out...when we tore down the two trucks ,we just threw all the bolts into a bucket and then had to go through them and sort them out :bs: .Jeff

yeah Steve, looks can be deceiving, just getting everything test fitted for now, kinda ran into a problem with the tranny and going to have get another one  .....unless someone has a input shaft for a pre 71 C-6, sorta rare trans but the right guy would want a tranny like this. still got a lot of little stuff to do also, just wanted to see how everything was going to line up what with mixing 2 trucks together, kinda like throwing it all in a pile and grabbing what you need out of the pile. well, it's been awhile since I've posted, so here's an update.....been doing all the piddly-assed stuff that takes forever, like tranny lines, radiator, seat, made the pieces that go around the steering column, got the dash in and realized i forgot to put a piece in( i'll get it later), hitting the junk yard, trying to do stuff that's not costly, at least till I go back to work and get some money. still need to get my driveshaft cut to size, get exhaust, and I have to order a TV cable for the tranny. so that's where I am...............here's some pics, Jeff11504115051150611507115081150911510115111151211514

SHE'S ALIVE!!!!! finally got the ol' girl fired up the other night. about 8" of exhaust on each side , but, I got wood :D . also fixed the instrument panel and had to redo the steering column. here's another little difference between a 64 and a 62.....the steering columns are different as well as all the inner workings. whoda thunk? I've driven around North O with open headers, you don't need exhaust! Of course that was in '75-79!

Enjoy work.

well got the headers on the way and license plates today, had to put the bent-assed bumper on the front, gotta run a front plate so the cops will leave me alone(i hope), gonna run around the "hood" with open headers till i get everything tuned in, hope i don't piss off the neighbors too bad. i don't know what kind of paint someone used on this thing b4 but that stuff is hard, 50 grit doesn't do alot of good, comes off like powder coat but it ain't.
