kick panel opening cover??

Post by slixtyfive »

Did slicks come from the factory with a 'cover panel' on the rectangular opening in the kick panels (opening just below edge of dash)?

Neither of mine (63 and 65) have anything covering this opening but there are holes adjacent to the top and bottom (at least on the 65, not sure on the 63) that make it appear there is supposed to be a cover piece screwed to the kick panel to cover the opening (similar to the door hinge bolt covers in the doors).

If there is supposed to be a cover piece, i'll be looking for a couple sets if anyone has some available to sell.

Thanks

I bought a pair of the covers from somebody at SS 3 in Altoona. They went with all the extra stuff to Doug(64 Ranger) when I sol him my 62 Uni.

Go here, Shadow, then scroll to the bottom post: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25966&hilit=access+cover

They're not on the truck, but once you see them, "you'll get the picture."

Pretty Generic Looking, I Bet After Time Those Things Got Loose And Either Fell-Off Or Started Rattling So Bad People Just Ditched Them. When I Got My Truck I Thought The PO Had Cut Those Gaping Holes To Run His Speaker Wire Into The Doors  .....

Here is a photo of the cover on the passenger side of our Slick, Tumbleweeds. There is an additional screw hole visible in the cover. Maybe one of the POs mounted a fire extinguisher there? Who knows...
