Many, many thanks! This place is awesome!

Post by Oregoon »

Whoo-hoo!

My '66 F100 will be alive soon!

Manual-choke Carter YF, Duraspark II, and a four-prong ignition module are in my hot little hands!!! A member donated a YF to my cause, but it wound up being spec'd for a Chevy 216. Though I could've made it work with some creative linkage, I used it as a core and got exactly the one I needed for my application. Another member sent me the proper wiring diagram, and it's correct right down to the color-coded wires.

Several other members sent me messages offering advice and support.

I owe you all. Thanks a million!

Anyway, it took several parts-store trips and some shenanigans (mispicked parts arrived in the proper box, twice!), but it's all in hand now and I'm looking at having my truck running by Sunday.

Going to do new intake/exhaust gaskets while I'm at it, toss a new donut in the downpipe, adjust my valves, etc, etc...

Man, am I excited!!!

Many thanks again for the help. I'll probably be asking some more questions over the weekend...

That's a tall order, but stranger things have happened.

We live in Portland and my wife's fam' live in KS, and it'd be really fun to take a road-trip in my truck. Maybe I'll drive and her and the kids can fly, and I'll head out for Iowa from Topeka...

Why not? Aside from money, I mean... There's the kicker.

Still, August is a long way off.

I sincerey hope that comes together.

I miss KS, despite being an Oregonian. The Sunflower State gets a bad rap, and it's totally undeserving. I had a '76 F100 with a 400M when I lived in Topeka, and I cruised endless farm roads and met no end of friendly folk. And I'm a tattooed 220-pound hillbilly-liberal from the rain-forests of Western Oregonian. Kansans are great people who live in a wonderfully undiscovered place and they're unassuming, unjudgemental and very welcoming. I'm proud to have married into a Jackson County family and fondly recall my midwestern days.

That said, let's hope my finances come together! A Ford belongs to the shimmering distances of the Western U.S., and my F100 needs to know Potwin Pavers!

What I tell people...while it's nice to have your truck there, if you can't afford it, then just fly in for the event. While the trucks are what motivate us to go, it's really about the people. You'll get rides in different trucks offered to you. You can hear JC, in person, explain in vivid detail what installing a Chevy engine in a Slick means to him. You get to meet Lyman, World's Nicest Man. Just go. Don't worry about the truck.

Everything Dwight just said. Don't worry about having a truck there, just attend and meet some of the greatest people you will ever know
