1965 F250 Camper Special Custom Cab badges

Hi, This is my very first post (on any site, for that matter) but it's unlikely to be my last, lol. I just drove my new 1965 F250 Camper Special 1200 miles home. This truck looks to be (and is reported to be, by the old owner) pretty nearly all original. It has a 352 with a COM transmission and 4:10 gearing. Everything works except for the horn and the windshield washer. It ran beautifully until I got home but right now I think it needs a new starter. But that's not why I'm posting. I'm not sure the badges on the fenders are right. They are the usual oval with "Ford 250" in chrome attached to the top of the oval. The insert reads "250". I suspect that the "F250" above the badge should just be "Ford" and the insert should be "Camper Special", not "250".

I have been checking your site off and on for a while and you all blow me away with the amount of accumulated knowledge you have!

Hi, I'm from Durango, Colorado. Out in the middle of nowhere in the south west corner of the state. I got a new starter in the truck this morning and it is back to running smoothly. Does anyone know about the correct badges?

I keep getting a "board attachment quota has been reached" message when I try to post a photo, maybe I should try early in the day tomorrow?

Thanks

"Ford 250" in the chrome on top of the oval bezel is correct for '65; just "Ford" across the top with a small "250" on the bottom of the oval bezel is correct for '66. But you have a "250" plastic insert as well? The numbered plastic inserts (100, 250, etc) are only correct for '63/'64 trucks and are the "shield" shape emblems; not the oval. Your rig should have red "Camper Special" inserts. These are available reproduction.

Hey Norm, thanks a million! Better to have to replace an insert than the chrome, I guess.

Read this under Identification Ornaments= My truck has FORD over 250 insert as earlier ones but 65 F250 4x F350 etc used these and they are cut different in the back as the hood mounted nomenclatures 'leaned out' fender mounted 'leaned in' :2cents:

For pics it's best to load into photobucket. Then highlight the bottom code next press the control button & the letter c at the same time. go to your posting in Slick 60's and press control & the letter v at the same time, it will now show in your post.

Post a picture here so we can tell what you have. Sounds like some might have the right info for you already.

Hey I know this topic or whatever is dead, but my grandfather has a '65 F250 Camper Special, he had the truck since 1970, and he's restoring most of it. Now I've trying to find the Camper Special badge inserts but either they are some stupid high price or they are no longer being made. Anyone able to tell me where I can find the inserts for around $40? If so thanks.
