GONNA START ON THE REAR TONIGHT
ANYONE KNOW HOW TO TELL WHAT GEAR RATIO YOUR REAR END IS?
Re: GONNA START ON THE REAR TONIGHT
If you have the driveshaft disconnected, you can just jack up the rear axle and measure the number of revolutions of the wheel per full revolution of the rear axle yoke. 3 3/4 = 3.73, 3 1/2 = 3.5, 3 1/4 = 3.25, and so on.
There's also info on the driver's door warranty tag pertaining to rear axle ratio. Should be the last set of numbers on the second line (after AXLE). You can decode it here: http://home.earthlink.net/~threynolds2/ ... s6166.html

Re: GONNA START ON THE REAR TONIGHT
If the differential is sitting on the floor, draw a mark on the ring gear, and a mark on the yoke. Rotate the yoke and count how many turns it takes for the ring gear to turn once.

divide teeth on ring by teeth on pinion.
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!

Re: GONNA START ON THE REAR TONIGHT
Ring gear should have the ratio stamped into the outer edge
