Hood Hinges Again

Post by Michelle »

I remember this being discussed here in the past but I seem to be having trouble finding the thread again. With my hood hinges adjusted all the way down the back of my hood still rises just a little above my cowl. I seem to remember that if you placed a washer between the hood and the hood hinge at the rear bolt hole it would cure the problem, is that correct? I will be putting my hood back on tonight or tomorrow and would like to have it align up perfectly this time.

The washers go between the front hinge hole and hood. Mine hood was up about 3/8", I taped three washers together and it pulled it down perfectly.

Thanks, I knew it was either the front of the rear, Just could not remember for sure which. For some reason I was thinking rear, glad you let me know it was the front bolt, you saved me some time and the frustration of trying the rear first.

better than the washers are the u shaped body shims with the tabs on the ends, then you do not need to take the bolt all the way out

take a good look at where the hinge bolts to the hood , the front of the hood support may be crushed in where the front hood bolt goes . Just about all of them I have seen with this issue had some degree of the brace being crushed at the front bolt on the hood . The washers work but a permanent fix would be to repair where the hinge bolts to the hood .

The hood looked good. I had the hood already off and this afternoon we put it back on. A washer under the front bolts did the trick. It now fits perfect as it should.
